ReelsmithPrivacy Policy
In short: Reelsmith does not collect any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your photos, videos and projects are processed on your device. If you turn on iCloud, they sync through your own iCloud account, which we can't access.
This policy explains how the Reelsmith app for iPhone and iPad ("Reelsmith", "the app") handles your information. Reelsmith is published by Marjhorie D Mahinay ("we", "us").
Information we collect
None. Reelsmith has no servers and no user accounts. We don't receive your photos, videos, audio, projects, contacts, location, device identifiers or usage data. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code.
Your media and projects
Everything you edit stays on your device. Reelsmith only opens the photos and videos you pick, and saves your finished work back to your photo library when you ask it to. Projects are stored in the app's own storage on your device.
iCloud sync
If iCloud Drive is turned on for your device, Reelsmith stores your projects in the app's iCloud container so they appear on your other devices. This data goes to your personal iCloud account and is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it. You can turn this off at any time in Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
Permissions the app asks for
- Photos: to open the photos and videos you choose and to save your exports. Nothing is uploaded.
- Microphone: to record voiceovers. Recordings stay in your project on your device.
- Speech Recognition: for auto captions, Smart Cut and filler-word removal. Reelsmith asks Apple's speech recognizer to run on your device. On devices or languages where on-device recognition isn't available, iOS may send the audio to Apple to transcribe it, as described in Apple's prompt and privacy policy. We never receive the audio or the text.
Each permission is optional. You can change it at any time in the Settings app. Features that need a permission simply won't work without it.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or share any information, because we don't have any. When you choose to share an export to another app (for example TikTok, Instagram or YouTube), that app's own privacy policy applies.
Children
Reelsmith doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Data retention and deletion
Your projects stay on your device and in your iCloud until you delete them. Deleting a project in the app removes it; deleting the app removes its local data. Projects in iCloud can also be managed in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. If you have questions about your privacy rights, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Reelsmith handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
